If you have noticed, when you give everyone write permissions it's not that safe. There is a safer. It's called setfacl. You can only use on Unix systems when at the command prompt. Also, you must be running an apache server. Make sure you have a user called apache that doesn't use bash (/sbin/nologin).

The first thing you need to do is to set your folders and files back to their original permission.

Original folder settings: 755
Original file settings: 644

Then type the following:

setfacl -m u:apache:rwx (folder/file goes here)


Remove the brackets and type the file/folder.

This gives only the apache server writing permissions, not the finace guy or customer service.

If you need more info, your first stop should be here, then google.

Also, the following works just as fine.

Code:

chmod o+rwx (file/folder here)
