Hello there,

I am very new to this forum, so please excuse my suggestion
if it's already be raised - understand that I am a TOTAL NON TECHIE.

I have just downloaded the brilliant "Web2mail" script and
have adjusted it to fit my site.

##################################
I have a suggestion for some software and outline the idea near
the bottom of this post - It is a fairly new idea
that is already incorporated by big marketers!

SQUEEZE PAGES
The same effect can be reproduced by tweaking the "Web2Mail" software.
The "Squeeze Pages" software is marketed for nearly $100 or
around 65 quid.
##################################

First of all...

Here's how I came across the idea for the cheap and easy version of
Squeeze Page software.

If you are not familiar with Squeeze Pages - you should be - read on
as they are worth a fortune to any web marketer!!!

Anyway..

As everyone is familiar with Web2Mail, I'll just say that
I wanted my cake and to eat it -

what I needed was something extra within the email "thankyou.php" script.

It's fine, pops up and shows the senders Name,
email address and the message contents on a plain
page background or you can display your own Thankyou page.html
but this does't display the senders details and message.

What I wanted was my own "Thank you" page with the senders details,
their message displayed and some adverts on as well, this is what I
did with the script..

At present the "thankyou.php" script contains:

<?
if($sent){
?>
Thank you <? echo $name; ?>, we will contact you shortly.<br><br>
Your message:<br><br>
<table border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" width="450">
<tr>
<td width="440"><small><? echo nl2br($message); ?></small></td>
</tr>
</table>
<br><br>
<?
if($show_ip == "yes"){
echo "<small>We have captured your IP (<I>$ip</I>) for security reasons</small>";
}
}
else{
print "$name, we could not send your message at this time, please try again later";
}
?>

Now, cut everything below:

<?
if($sent){
?>
and paste it into the html source code of a suitably sized table that you can make
on a duplicate page of your site that you would like your email vistor to see after
they have sent you the "Web2mail"

Next:

Copy the duplicate web page's html source code

and enter the html source code into the "thankyou.php"
script after this section:

<?
if($sent){
?>
(Place your html page next and hit "save")

and now when someone emails me this whole page shows, matching my complete site,
with their email inside the small frame that I placed it in.
I get a copy of the email as well as the sender - all as it should be!
Smooth stuff!

#####################################
CHEAP AND EASY - LOW DOWN AND DIRTY...
SQUEEZE PAGE MANUFACTURE UTILISING WEB2MAIL SOFTWARE
#####################################

Let me first explain what "Squeeze Pages" are and why they
are important to the lifeblood of YOUR business.

A squeeze page is a shortened version of your product's sales
letter, shortened so it will display faster in visitors browsers,
they read the interesting stuff and.. and... there is no more
stuff to read - they're desperate to read more..

so what do you have at the bottom of the page ====

a log-in box - the visitor enters their personal name and email
details (using the Web2mail login box - No message area) and the next
page they see (Courtesy of the above idea) is the full version of your
sales letter with their name incorporated into the Title and also at
the top like so ie.

Dear firstname,
Blahty blahty blah

A FIRST CLASS method of PERSONALIZING THE SALES PAGE with your PROSPECTS
OWN NAME EMBLAZONED ALL OVER IT!

(What you'll use to do this, is this section from the web2mail script
<? echo $name; ?>, wherever you want the sender or rather your prospects
name to appear in the html source code of your sales page.)

At the moment this part :-

Thank you <? echo $name; ?>, we will contact you shortly.

appears in the "thankyou.php" but by easily incorporating it into
your longer sales page and pasting the whole sales page source code into
the "thankyou.php" after:-
<?
if($sent){
?>
the SQUEEZE PAGE WILL SHOW

Plus you will have captured you prospects email address details
and sent them an email - You will also have to amend the email details within
"email-functions.php" to talk about your particular product you are promoting
so adjust the following two sections:

"function sendHTMLEmailAuto" to talk about your product

as well as

"function sendTextEmailAuto"

Use Squeeze Pages in your Google campaigns etc to capture
your prospects details - it is proven that it takes at least 7
contacts to sell a product - why not utilise this idea and save
yourself loads of time!

Anyone else got a better idea for this or any other free product!

Sounds interesting enough , on the other hand it's really called "A Truncatated version" .. .. .. It's where the script truncates all the text , kind of like the way most news and health sites have been doing for several years now.. .. .. Still an interesting idea to actually send it in the mail , reminds me of all the spam ive thrown away , seriously tho'- thats exactly what they really were was an e-mail campaign. In my view , if a user was already at your site , then why would they want to be stricken with a mini-version of your site in their e-mail box for ? This may indeed send your e-mail straight to the Bulk-mail box or straight to the trash can left un-read by a rather large majority of the public these days. So in the end , I would definately have to disagree with sending the entire mini-site idea as it poses a great threat to accidently be thrown away , yet I do find the truncated text highly interesting . As most serious people will glaze through the truncated text to their point of interest and it wouldnt pose any threat of accidently being thrown in any Bulk-Folder or automatically thrown in the trash can , I praise that idea , It's what I personally find interesting about your idea.

well not a total bad idea but im with phpdummy on this, a mini version of your site for faster loading time is a bit out of date as most people today have a 56k or faster connection Wink

also reading up on squeeze pages its seems like its almost like spamming, which is becomming illegal Wink

also most people dont like to give out info in order to see stuff esp when they can get the same info from another spot without doing any signing up.

it might work well for some sites but as a person who looks around the web alot i wouldnt give my email address just to see some content unles it was worth my chance of getting spammed Wink

also think that people like me will use a hotmail account for stuff like that in case the place that i gave my email to sells it to others Wink

and one more item to think about, some email clients dont allow html to run, i know i have a email account that is text-only thus ill get a bunch of werid characters and my spam software will mark it as spam because of that Wink

but many spam software will block emails are that have alot of html codings as it is usually spammers way of tracking their messages.

you have to think about all the bases here Smile

but yes its a good idea if you trying to make money off emails.

Just one little point ..

Quote:

<?
if($sent){
?>
(Place your html page next and hit "save")

This will bring up an error.

The correct coding is..

Code:
 <?php
if($sent){
?>
** HTML CONTENT **
<?php
}
?>

without the final } you will just be faced with errors.

Other than that, i think its a good idea, IF you want to make money Smile

Well as I said , and ill say it again , I do like the truncated text .... i see it as a news feed and alot of people really do pay attention to a news feed.
For example , I recieve news feed from SubWay(R) Franchise and this is what I get as an example....

Lifetime Achievement Award.
SUBWAY® Restaurant co-founders first to receive restaurant association's award...full story >>

along with several other topics . The only images are a nice small header image (no F*n banner) and a small image of the guy behind it all. This is nice and tidy and makes it through my spam filter , however , I do believe that if any of us were to release code to do this that it would lead to alot of spammers and kids trying to make a fast buck over-night. however if anyone is interested in such a script , then as long as their on the legitimate side of the business spectrum then Id assume that they had the measly $100.00 to pay any of us here at CJ-Design to develop such a script. You have to think about it for a mere moment...... If I'm running a successful business then I'd be more than happy to fork up that $100.00 for a script to deliver a mini-squish-page as it was so put , in an effort to keep my subscribers up to date on the latest.

However , more than likely , its as i said ....... . . .. . .. .something for nothing in hopes of spamming 6+million internet users in hopes of getting rich over-night and it only costing an e-mail campaign Wink

If anyones truly serious then I think that at the most , perhaps James will consider this idea , yet due to it's importancy to the actual business class and due to its nature , then if he did develop such a script , Id personally suggest that it only reside on a purchase plan.

After all , I believe that from what Ive seen across the help forums on the internet that we as a whole supply the best and fastest response help youll ever find on the net in regards to anything that James has developed Wink
